Munich, Feb 4 (NationPress) Alphonso Davies, who has recently been a subject of transfer speculation, has officially extended his contract with FC Bayern Munich until June 2030. The 24-year-old Canadian international has been a part of the club since the 2018/19 season, having transferred from the Vancouver Whitecaps.

The left wing-back’s prior contract was set to expire in June 2025, and the club was keen on retaining a talent of his caliber rather than losing him for nothing. The mutual trust that exists between both parties facilitated the signing of a new five-year deal.

“I am incredibly pleased to have renewed my contract with this exceptional club. I joined FC Bayern at the age of 18, eager to learn and develop into one of the top players in my position. I look forward to spending another five years here. I’ve accomplished much already, but there’s still more to achieve,” stated Davies.

Since arriving in Munich as a teenager, he has made 220 competitive appearances for the club, netting 12 goals and assisting 34 times. His accolades include five Bundesliga titles, a Champions League victory, a UEFA Super Cup, a FIFA Club World Cup, two DFB Cups, and three German Supercups. He was also part of the Bayern reserves team that clinched the 3. Liga title.

Max Eberl, board member for sport at FC Bayern, remarked, “We’re thrilled to be moving forward with Alphonso Davies. He has been with Bayern since he was 18 and quickly adapted to the club's culture. We envision him as a key player in the new generation of our team who is taking on more responsibility. He has grown within this environment and will continue to evolve with the team.”

Davies has earned 56 caps for Canada (scoring 15 goals) and has participated in the 2022 FIFA World Cup, two CONCACAF Gold Cups, and CONMEBOL Copa America. He made his senior debut at just 16 and is currently the captain of his national team.

Christoph Freund, sporting director at FC Bayern, added, “Alphonso Davies is now among the finest players globally in his position and has garnered considerable interest. His desire to remain with us underscores Bayern’s prestige in the international football scene and illustrates that Alphonso has discovered his true sporting home in Munich.”
