Jamshedpur, Feb 4 (NationPress) Pune golfer Divyansh Dubey carded an impressive five-under 66 to secure the lead after the first round at the Final Qualifying Stage of the TATA Steel PGTI Qualifying School 2025, held at the Golmuri Golf Course. Close behind, ten players shared the second spot with scores of 67, featuring notable names such as veteran Arjun Singh, amateur Anant Singh Ahlawat, and international competitors Koichiro Sato from the United States and Md Solayeman from Bangladesh.

The 21-year-old Dubey, who went professional three years ago, began with a bang, registering birdies on the 11th and 13th holes, with approach shots landing within one foot and three feet of the pin, respectively. As a co-runner-up in the previous PGTI season, he further added three more birdies on the back-nine, including a fantastic recovery from a water hazard.

His front-nine was relatively subdued, featuring two birdies and two bogeys, yet he managed some quality up-and-downs for a birdie and a couple of pars.

Divyansh commented, “I adhered to my game plan and executed it effectively. The strong start was incredibly beneficial. I drew confidence from my performances in the PGTI last year.”

After round two, the top 80 players (including ties) will make the cut. By the end of round four, the leading 32 players (including ties) will secure their full cards for the 2025 PGTI season.
