Florence (Italy), Feb 4 (NationPress) Serie A club ACF Fiorentina has confirmed the acquisition of midfielder Nicolo Fagioli from Juventus FC on a preliminary loan agreement, which includes an obligation to complete a permanent transfer.
Fagioli has accumulated nearly 70 appearances for Juventus across Serie A, Coppa Italia, Italian Super Cup, Champions League, and Europa League, securing a league title, two Coppa Italia trophies, and one Italian Super Cup.
Beginning his journey with Juventus in the summer of 2015 at just 14 years old, Nicolo excelled in the youth ranks, making a notable impact in the Primavera team after scoring 13 goals in 25 matches for the Under-17 squad during the 2017/2018 season.
The following year, on August 26, he debuted with Juventus Under 23, before receiving his first Serie A call-up on January 27, 2019, at the age of 17, for an away match against Lazio.
During the 2019/2020 season, he celebrated his first trophy with the Under 23 team, clinching the Coppa Italia Serie C final against Ternana, while also making his debut with the First Team in both the Coppa Italia and Serie A.
After a valuable loan spell at Cremonese, where he helped the team achieve promotion to the Italian top division, Nicolo returned to Turin and began playing for the first team regularly.
The 23-year-old faced a seven-month ban from the Italian Football Federation for violating betting regulations in 2023. He received a 12-month suspension, five months of which were suspended, along with a fine of €12,500 (£10,850).
Despite this setback, he made a successful return in time to be included in Italy's Euro 2024 squad. He has played for Italy at all youth levels and has earned seven caps with the senior team.
