New Delhi, April 24 (NationPress) Ellyse Perry is set to return to New South Wales after a six-year period where she played for Victoria in state cricket.

Although her participation was limited—she played only 20 Women's National Cricket League (WNCL) matches for Victoria due to her international commitments—Perry showcased remarkable performance, scoring 1052 runs at an impressive average of 75.14 and claiming 13 wickets.

Her comeback to NSW, which is the reigning WNCL champions, will come with some limitations as she will be absent during the initial phase of the upcoming season while competing in the ODI World Cup. Nonetheless, there may be an opening for her to play in January prior to Australia's multi-format series against India.

Throughout her tenure with Victoria, Perry continued to play for the Sydney Sixers in the WBBL.

“The last six years I’ve spent in Melbourne and at Cricket Victoria have been truly memorable, and I’m extremely thankful for all the opportunities and experiences I’ll hold dear,” Perry expressed.

“I’m eager to be back in Sydney and closer to my family and long-time friends. It’s been wonderful to maintain connections with CNSW via the Sixers, and I feel privileged to be rejoining a world-class program under the guidance of Leah Poulton and her team.”

Leah Poulton, Head of Female Elite Cricket at Cricket NSW, remarked that Perry’s return is a pivotal moment for the program.

“We’re excited to welcome Ellyse back home to the Breakers. She’s not just one of the world’s top cricketers but also a role model and leader whose influence goes beyond the sport,” Poulton noted. “Pez’s professionalism, experience, and attitude towards the game make her an invaluable asset to any team, and we’re thrilled to have her back in our program.”

This July, she is scheduled to play for Hampshire before joining Birmingham Phoenix for The Hundred in August.

Australia has a relatively quiet winter calendar, with their next international engagement being an away ODI series against India in September, which will act as preparation for the World Cup.
