New Delhi, April 24 (NationPress) Congress leader Udit Raj on Thursday expressed support for the government’s five-point action plan aimed at penalizing Pakistan for its transgressions and its role in fostering terrorism on Indian territory. However, he emphasized the necessity for more significant retribution against the rogue nation.
In his remarks to IANS regarding the horrific Pahalgam terror incidents, Udit Raj affirmed that the Congress party aligns with the government in delivering a strong message to the terrorists, asserting that it is time to confront their masters across the border.
"The five measures announced yesterday, including halting the flow of the Indus River, closing the Attari border, denying visa access to Pakistan, and reducing embassy personnel, are commendable steps. Yet, more robust actions are essential at this juncture,” he stated.
He further remarked, “If the government seeks to adopt a more stringent approach in the future, we are in full support. Merely stopping the water supply from the Indus River or closing the border will not suffice. An invasion of Pakistan is warranted given the continuous nature of such incidents.”
Simultaneously, the Congress Working Committee (CWC), the party’s apex decision-making assembly, passed a resolution attributing responsibility to Pakistan for the heinous and premeditated act of terrorism in J&K’s Pahalgam.
“This despicable and calculated act of terror, orchestrated by Pakistan, directly assaults the principles of our Republic. The intentional targeting of Hindus was aimed at igniting tensions nationwide,” the CWC resolution articulated.
“We urge calm amidst this serious provocation and reaffirm our collective strength against adversity. The CWC calls for serenity and reiterates the Indian National Congress' enduring commitment to combat cross-border terrorism with resolve and unity,” it added.
On April 22, twenty-six tourists, from various regions of the country and one from Nepal, were brutally murdered in Baisaran, often referred to as 'mini Switzerland' due to its scenic meadows in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam. The victims were specifically targeted for their religion and executed at close range, while women and children were spared to relay the horror back to the government.
