Birmingham, Feb 8 (NationPress) Lucas Digne asserts that Aston Villa is determined to do everything possible to defeat Tottenham Hotspur and advance in the FA Cup during their encounter at Villa Park this Sunday, where a spot in the fifth round is on the line.
This matchup marks the 12th FA Cup clash between the two teams, and Digne has his sights set on advancing in the competition.
“It’s incredibly significant. It’s the most historic cup in England, and I am eager to win it. I want to progress as far as we can because we possess a quality squad. We haven’t secured a victory against Tottenham in quite some time. Each matchup poses a challenge, and we aim to deliver our best performance in front of our supporters at Villa Park,” Digne shared with Villa’s media team.
Under the guidance of Unai Emery, Villa has maintained a commendable ten-match unbeaten streak at Villa Park, dating back to a Carabao Cup defeat against Crystal Palace in October.
However, Digne is not content with merely maintaining this streak and seeks to push for further victories on home ground.
“We can definitely improve; we’ve had a few draws. Since our last loss to Arsenal in the Premier League and to Crystal Palace in the cup, we haven’t been beaten, but there’s room for improvement.
“We feel strong when playing at home, and we need to demonstrate that while addressing the minor details. I’m genuinely pleased with my performance. I’m doing well, but just like the team, there’s always room for improvement,” Digne added.
During the winter transfer window, five new players joined the squad to enhance the team's depth for the second half of the season.
Digne believes these additions will aid Villa in pursuing their goals across all competitions.
“We require fresh talent, and it’s wonderful to have these types of players. Everyone is familiar with them; they are exceptionally skilled and will support us in achieving our objectives for the remainder of the season.
“Everyone is assisting them in feeling at ease on the pitch because it’s crucial for optimal performance. It fosters healthy competition within the team, which is essential for reaching our highest individual capabilities,” Digne concluded.
