Ranchi, March 14 (NationPress) The remains of Muskan Parveen, a 12th grade student from SS Plus Two School in Gumla, Jharkhand, who had been unaccounted for over three days, were discovered in Keshwar Dam on Friday.
This tragic incident has ignited public anger, with the victim's family blaming a local youth for her abduction and subsequent murder before discarding her body in the dam.
As per statements from the police, a report was lodged by Muskan's father, Jasir Ansari, who had reported her missing on March 11. He has contended that law enforcement did not respond adequately, which hampered the search.
"Arrangements for her marriage were in progress at home. Her engagement to a young man from Lohardaga had been confirmed, with the wedding planned for April 23," stated Jasir Ansari. He further claimed that a local youth from their village had been harassing Muskan and pressuring her into marriage.
The heartbroken father alleged that the accused lured his daughter away, murdered her, and later disposed of her remains. He also disclosed that the suspect had previously threatened Muskan's fiancé over the phone. The family is convinced that had the police acted swiftly upon the missing person report, Muskan's life might have been spared.
Gumla Sadar police station chief Surendra Kumar Singh confirmed the discovery of the body and mentioned that it has been sent for a post-mortem examination. "We have received a complaint against a youth suspected of involvement in the crime. The investigation is ongoing, and necessary actions will be implemented based on the results," he stated.
In a related case reported on Thursday in Godda district, Jharkhand, the body of a 16-year-old student, Priya Kumar, was found in a well near the Pahadkhand Shiva temple in the Meharma police station area. Priya's family has accused Gaurav Kumar, a youth from the same village, of murdering her after she turned down his persistent marriage proposals.
