Visakhapatnam, Jan 10 (NationPress) A special POCSO court in Visakhapatnam has sentenced the Telugu YouTuber and TikTok personality Chippada Bhargav to a 20-year prison term for the crime of raping a minor girl.
The court mandated that the accused pay Rs 4 lakh in compensation to the 14-year-old victim, who unfortunately became pregnant as a result of the assault.
Known popularly as Funbucket Bhargav, he was apprehended in April 2021 following allegations of sexually assaulting a girl.
He faced charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act in addition to multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code.
The victim's family lodged a complaint at the Pendurthi police station on April 16, 2021, after discovering that the minor was four months pregnant.
The accused was captured in Hyderabad and subsequently transferred to Visakhapatnam.
Authorities charged Bhargav with various offenses under the POCSO Act along with sections 376 (Punishment for sexual assault) and 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman) of the Indian Penal Code.
Due to the nature of the case, it was reassigned to the Disha Police Station, which specializes in crimes against women and children. The investigation was led by Assistant Commissioner of Police Prem Kajal.
The police compiled a charge sheet and presented all evidence in the special court, leading to a guilty verdict and a 20-year sentence. Additionally, he was ordered to compensate the victim.
Bharghav initially gained fame through humorous TikTok videos and had offered the minor girl opportunities in media after noticing her in TikTok content. Following her rejection of his advances, he allegedly blackmailed her by claiming he possessed explicit videos of her and subsequently assaulted her. The police confiscated his vehicle and mobile phone during the investigation.
