Mumbai, April 24 (NationPress) Actor Rumi Khan, known for his recent role in Sunny Deol's hit film, ‘Gadar 2: The Katha Continues’, is set to star in the forthcoming historical television drama, Chakravarti Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan.
The ensemble cast includes Padmini Kolhapure and Ronit Roy.
Rumi expressed, "I take pleasure in portraying significant roles, and I am thrilled to have found one in this show. Viewers will see me as King Jaichand, a prominent character featured in the narrative of Prithviraj Chauhan's story and Indian history. I will portray a character with complex shades."
He shared his enthusiasm for the immersive shooting experience, emphasizing the fresh depiction of an ancient kingdom.
"The ambiance on set is quite enjoyable. It allows me to step back into ancient times, from the kingdom created on set to the royal attire we don during filming," he said.
"I'm astonished by the fun atmosphere here. The audience will witness a completely new setup, although the story has been portrayed on television numerous times before. This iteration stands apart. Viewers will appreciate the dedication of the creators and our hard work."
Rumi is making his return to television after a three-year hiatus. His last appearance was in Ali Baba: Dastaan-E-Kabul, which aired from August 2022 to January 2023.
He noted, "I was last filming for a television show in 2023, which was for Alibaba, in a similar genre. Afterward, I took a break to focus on films."
Rumi has enjoyed opportunities such as featuring in Shah Rukh Khan's Pathan, Gadar 2, and various OTT projects.
“I’m delighted to return to television screens. I am familiar with the makers and have had a superb experience collaborating with them in the past. So, when the role was offered, I accepted without hesitation," Rumi added.
Rumi has appeared in notable series like Sher-e-Punjab: Maharaja Ranjit Singh, Chandragupta Maurya, Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat, Bharat Ka Veer Putra – Maharana Pratap, and Mahabharat, among others.
