Mumbai, Feb 22 (NationPress) Acclaimed filmmaker and producer Subhash Ghai, renowned for classics like ‘Karz’, ‘Hero’, ‘Taal’, and ‘Ram Lakhan’, has unveiled the inspiration behind the title of his memoir, ‘Karma's Child: The Story of Indian Cinema’.

On Saturday, the filmmaker shared a nostalgic photo on his Instagram, featuring legendary writer Gulzar alongside himself.

In the caption, he reflected on a profound conversation with Gulzar, stating, “Why did they name your book as karma ‘s child? Gulzar saab told me the reasons because it only takes the instinctive talent of a child like you to create such timeless classics. It just happens.”

He went on to express, “It’s your own karma and courage to persist and shine as a filmmaker for 40 years. I felt overwhelmed by his deep affection and love for me when he launched my book at the Mumbai Film Festival. Thank you, Gulzar sahab. I am still a student (sic).”

Last year, Subhash Ghai was hospitalized at Lilavati Hospital in the Bandra area of Mumbai. He later reassured fans with a statement saying, “All is well now,” attributing the health scare primarily to his busy schedule at the 55th edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa.

During the festival, his memoir, ‘Karma's Child: The Story of Indian Cinema's Ultimate Showman’, was officially launched, and attendees were treated to a screening of his musical ‘Taal’.

Taking to his X (formerly Twitter), he expressed gratitude, stating, “I feel so blessed knowing that I have so many friends expressing their love and support for my health after my hectic stint at IFFI Goa. ALL IS WELL NOW and see you soon. SMILE AGAIN. Thank you (sic).”

Previously, the hospital had revealed that his medical history indicated Ischemic heart disease (s/p AVR 2009, CABG in 2011, and pacemaker insertion in 2011) and a recently diagnosed hypothyroidism. He was admitted to the ICU under the care of Dr. Rohit Deshpande.
