Los Angeles, Feb 22 (NationPress) Renowned actor Tom Hanks and his spouse, Rita Wilson, are stepping up to assist in the relief efforts for the wildfires that devastated Los Angeles and surrounding areas in southern California.
The couple has generously pledged $1 million to support the wildfire relief initiatives, as reported by Female First UK.
Their Pacific Palisades residence, valued at $26 million, reportedly withstood the fierce fires that ignited in this affluent region on January 7, although they had to evacuate.
According to Female First UK, the Los Angeles wildfires consisted of a series of 14 destructive fires that impacted the metropolitan area of Los Angeles and San Diego County, exacerbated by drought, low humidity, and accumulated vegetation from the previous winter.
Both aged 68, Tom and Rita are among the latest celebrities to contribute to the relief efforts, distributing their donation across various organizations, such as the Motion Picture and Television Fund, Los Angeles Fire Foundation, SAG-AFTRA Foundation Disaster Relief Fund, American Red Cross, and MusiCares.
