Why Sandeep Reddy Vanga Refers to Upendra as ‘the Original Wild Animal’
On January 3 in Mumbai, filmmakers Sandeep Reddy Vanga and Navdeep celebrated actor Upendra, likening him to Ranbir Kapoor’s character in the film 'Animal.'

Mumbai, Jan 3 (NationPress) Filmmakers Sandeep Reddy Vanga and Navdeep recently commended actor Upendra, making a notable comparison between him and the character portrayed by Ranbir Kapoor in ‘Animal’.

During their appearance on Prime Video’s ‘The Rana Daggubati Show’, they shared their admiration for Upendra's distinctive style in both filmmaking and acting. Navdeep likened Upendra to the leading character in ‘Animal’, affectionately calling him “the OG real wild animal.”

Sandeep Reddy further extolled Upendra, remarking, “He directed Om at the age of just 22, becoming the youngest director in the nation at that time. His screenplay felt like a film within a film.”

Upendra discussed the obstacles he encountered and the creative spark that arose from his modest beginnings. He shared, “I lived in a very small house. To make a living, I crafted paper covers and sold them to fruit vendors. That’s when I started writing. I approached a director as a writer, and he appointed me as his AD. From there, I ascended to co-director, then director, and eventually starred in my own films.”

Reflecting on his personal journey and experiences with love and marriage, Upendra described marriage as “a wonderful institution.” He humorously added, “It is so delightful. I tricked you all by saying things like, ‘There is no love. Love is worthless.’ Many of you believed it, but very quietly, I got married. I wanted to discover whether there was any truth to my words. After experiencing it, I am now convinced.”

Upendra also recounted an unexpected twist he introduced in a love scene from his 2002 film ‘Super Star’. He revealed, “While I was in Thailand, I came across a tiger and chose to base a love scene around it.”

The show, which is created, hosted, and executive produced by Rana Daggubati under the Spirit Media banner, is an unscripted Telugu Original series featuring an exciting roster of guests, including Dulquer Salmaan, Naga Chaitanya Akkineni, Siddhu Jonnalagadda, Sreeleela, Nani, S.S. Rajamouli, Ram Gopal Varma, and many others.

New episodes are released every Saturday, with the seventh episode of The Rana Daggubati Show set to stream on January 4, on Prime Video in India and over 240 countries and territories worldwide.
