Paris, Feb 5 (NationPress) On Wednesday, France reiterated its firm stance against the forced displacement of the Palestinian populace in Gaza, following statements from US President Donald Trump indicating plans to assume control of the Gaza Strip and redevelop it after relocating Palestinians to other areas.

Trump's comments were made during a joint press conference with visiting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday, lacking specifics on any potential resettlement process.

The French Ministry of Foreign Affairs declared that the forced displacement of Gaza's Palestinian population would represent a serious violation of international law and undermine the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinian people. This action would also pose a significant barrier to the two-state solution and threaten regional stability, the ministry emphasized.

France is committed to actively advocating for the realization of the two-state solution, which it believes is essential for achieving lasting peace and security for both Israelis and Palestinians, the ministry stated.

Furthermore, it highlighted, “Gaza’s future should not involve control by a third state but rather be situated within the framework of a future Palestinian state, under the guidance of the Palestinian Authority.”

France will persist in opposing any resettlement efforts and any suggestions of unilateral annexation of the West Bank.

The Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO) also voiced strong disapproval of Trump's comments regarding the relocation of Gaza Strip residents to surrounding countries, as reported by Xinhua.

Hussein al-Sheikh, the Secretary General of the PLO's executive committee, stated that the organization “categorically rejects all calls to displace our people from their homeland.”

He affirmed that the two-state solution, grounded in international law, remains the only feasible route to peace and stability. “We were born here, we have lived here, and we will remain here,” he remarked, commending Arab nations for their solidarity with the Palestinian cause.
