Jaipur, Feb 5 (NationPress) A Class 12 student tragically lost her life, while nine other children suffered serious injuries when the driver of their school bus lost control, causing it to plunge off a culvert. The incident was reportedly caused by a brake failure, with the bus carrying around 30 children.
Immediately after the devastating accident, all injured students were swiftly transported to the hospital, where their conditions are being closely monitored by medical professionals.
Notably, the driver fled the scene right after the incident, which occurred on the Jaipur-Bikaner Highway (NH-52) near Chomu.
In a shocking revelation, the bus’s fitness certification had expired in March of the previous year, yet it was still allowed to operate on the highway with children aboard.
Although the bus had a permit for the Chokhi Dhani to Sirsi Road route, it was illegally operating on a different path.
The accident took place at approximately 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday near the Veer Hanuman Marg culvert.
Witnesses quickly gathered at the scene.
Tragically, 18-year-old Komal Devanda, daughter of Shishupal Devanda from Rampura, Dabdi (Chomu), lost her life in the incident. She was a dedicated Class 12 student.
Upon receiving the report, Chomu Police promptly arrived at the location.
All injured children were taken to the hospital.
An eyewitness, Anurag Sharma, recounted hearing a loud explosion before discovering the overturned bus.
Upon arrival, he and his friends saw children crying out for help.
Local residents expressed their anger, blaming the transport department for neglecting to address the issue of overloaded and unauthorized vehicles in Chomu.
Protesters gathered at the accident site, chanting slogans against the transport department and demanding strict enforcement of safety regulations.
Residents highlighted that private buses are operating as school transportation without following essential safety standards.
A large crowd also assembled at the government hospital in Chomu, demanding immediate action against illegally operating vehicles.
