Windhoek, Jan 19 (NationPress) The Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism (MEFT) of Namibia expressed its enthusiasm on Saturday regarding the recent ranking by Altezza Travel, which positioned Namibia as the 4th safest nation in Africa.
The recognition from Altezza Travel, which highlights Namibia's political stability, robust tourism infrastructure, and overall safety, is a monumental achievement, stated MEFT spokesperson Romeo Muyunda. He noted that this ranking not only boosts the country's global image but also solidifies Namibia's reputation as a top travel destination.
As reported by Muyunda, Namibia sits in fourth place, trailing behind Mauritius (1st), Ghana (2nd), and Zambia (3rd).
“This ranking showcases our peaceful existence as Namibians and underscores the acknowledgment of our joint efforts in maintaining peace and stability. The ministry extends its commendations to the Namibian populace, security sectors, law enforcement agencies, and all involved parties for upholding law and order within the nation,” he remarked.
According to Muyunda, safety is a crucial element in the travel and tourism industries; thus, this ranking elevates Namibia’s global standing and is likely to encourage more travelers to recommend visiting the country.
He mentioned that while Namibia holds the fourth position, the ministry is optimistic about the country’s potential to become the safest nation in Africa.
In the meantime, these rankings emerge amidst a continuous tourism safety initiative led by the ministry in partnership with the Namibian police, tour operators, and selected regional councils, among others.
“As a nation, we need to prioritize peace and stability, as these factors will not only draw tourists but also attract essential investors to promote economic growth,” he added.
Altezza Travel, a destination management firm based in Kilimanjaro, Tanzania, compiled these rankings by analyzing prominent global studies from recent years, including official statistics and public perceptions of personal safety.
