Meanwhile, the Army and Assam Rifles persist with their extensive search for Laisram Kamalbabu Singh, a member of the Meitei community, who has been missing for approximately a month.
Defence sources report that around 2,000 soldiers from the Army and Assam Rifles are actively engaged in search operations across Kangpokpi and neighboring districts.
Kamalbabu Singh, a resident of Gossaipur in Cachar district, southern Assam, was residing in Loitang Khunou village in Imphal West district. He disappeared on November 25 while heading to the Leimakhong military station, where he was employed as a supervisor for a contractor associated with the Military Engineering Services (MES).
The Joint Action Committee (JAC) and the Meira Paibis (women's vigilante groups in Manipur) have requested the intervention of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to facilitate the rescue of the missing man.
The prominent Meira Paibis and the JAC continue their protests independently against the alleged “abduction” of Kamalbabu Singh.
The JAC leaders previously met with Chief Minister N. Biren Singh to discuss Kamalbabu Singh's situation, urging him to escalate the search efforts to locate the “missing or abducted” individual.
