Tejashwi Appeals to Nitish, Highlights Corruption in BPSC Exam
Patna, Dec 23 (NationPress) The ongoing controversy regarding the 70th BPSC examination has escalated, as Tejashwi Yadav, the Leader of Opposition in Bihar, raises serious allegations of malpractice and systemic corruption in recruitment procedures.

Patna, Dec 23 (NationPress) The situation surrounding the 70th BPSC examination has intensified, with Tejashwi Yadav, the Leader of Opposition in Bihar, accusing the authorities of malpractice and deep-rooted corruption in the recruitment process.

Tejashwi Yadav has addressed a letter to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, presenting eight specific demands that underscore the necessity for transparency and integrity in competitive examinations.

He has indicated that the examination held on December 13, 2024, was plagued by malpractice, highlighting pervasive corruption within the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC).

In his correspondence, Yadav stated, “The cancellation of the examination at the Bapu Examination Centre in Patna and the subsequent re-examination at the same site is merely a tactic to hide institutional shortcomings.”

The RJD leader asserted that the BPSC had engaged employees from a private agency instead of utilizing government personnel for such an important examination, vehemently questioning the credibility of the process.

Tejashwi insisted that all future examinations must be carried out exclusively by government staff, advocating for the exclusion of private agencies from the procedure.

“I urge the Chief Minister to identify and punish those accountable for the malpractice during the December 13 exam. Additionally, I demand a thorough independent investigation into the corruption allegations surrounding the BPSC,” he stated.

He called for sweeping reforms within the BPSC to guarantee transparency and eradicate corruption in government recruitment, suggesting that the state government offer appropriate remedies or compensation to candidates whose efforts were compromised by these irregularities. He also emphasized the need for a system to hold the Commission accountable for its failures and to ensure the merit-based selection process remains free from external influences or biases.

Tejashwi reported that allegations of irregularities were not confined to the Bapu Examination Centre but were also reported from various other locations. The BPSC has recognized these lapses, indicating systemic issues.

“I demand the annulment of the entire 70th Preliminary Examination and the conduct of a re-examination for all candidates to guarantee fairness,” Yadav asserted.

He further noted that approximately 90,000 registered candidates were reportedly unable to complete the application process due to corruption and procedural inefficiencies. He advocated for these candidates to be allowed to fill out the examination form and take part in the re-examination.

“Allegations from students that private coaching institutes forecasted more than 25 percent of the questions in the exam raise serious concerns regarding potential question leaks. A comprehensive investigation is essential. An independent and unbiased judicial inquiry is necessary to examine the widespread irregularities,” he added.

In his letter, Tejashwi mentioned that thousands of candidates have been protesting in severe weather conditions, demonstrating their dissatisfaction with the BPSC's management of the situation.

He criticized the state government's insensitivity towards the protesting students.

Tejashwi pleaded with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to annul the 70th Preliminary Examination to dispel any doubts surrounding its fairness. He called for the Commission to set a re-examination date with clear guidelines to restore candidates' confidence.
