Tejashwi Yadav Raises Alarm Over BPSC Exam Irregularities in Letter to Nitish Kumar
Patna, Dec 23 (NationPress) The controversy surrounding the 70th BPSC examination has escalated, as Opposition Leader Tejashwi Yadav brings forth allegations of malpractice and systemic corruption in the recruitment procedures.

Patna, Dec 23 (NationPress) The ongoing controversy regarding the 70th BPSC examination has intensified, with the Leader of Opposition in Bihar, Tejashwi Yadav, making serious allegations of malpractice and institutional corruption in the recruitment process.

In a letter addressed to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Yadav has stated eight key demands, stressing the necessity for transparency and fairness in competitive exams.

Yadav contends that the examination held on December 13, 2024, was tainted by malpractice, indicating systemic corruption within the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC).

“The decision to cancel the exam at the Bapu Examination Centre in Patna and to conduct a re-examination at the same location appears to be a tactic to hide institutional shortcomings,” Yadav remarked in his correspondence.

The RJD leader accused the BPSC of employing staff from a private agency, rather than relying on government personnel, to oversee such a significant examination, severely questioning the credibility of the exam process.

Yadav insisted that all future examinations should be managed exclusively by government employees and urged for the exclusion of private agencies from the procedure.

“I urge the Chief Minister to identify and sanction those accountable for the malpractice during the December 13 exam. Additionally, I demand a thorough independent inquiry into the corruption allegations surrounding the BPSC,” he stated.

Tejashwi called for a comprehensive overhaul of BPSC to promote transparency and eradicate corruption in government recruitment. The state government should offer appropriate remedies or compensation to candidates whose efforts were compromised due to irregularities and establish a mechanism to hold the Commission accountable for its failures, ensuring the integrity of the merit-based selection process free from external influences or biases.

He noted that reports of irregularities were not confined to the Bapu Examination Centre but also surfaced from multiple other locations. The BPSC’s acknowledgment of these lapses suggests deeper systemic flaws.

“I demand the annulment of the entire 70th Preliminary Examination and the organization of a re-examination for all candidates to guarantee fairness,” Yadav asserted.

Furthermore, he mentioned that approximately 90,000 registered candidates were allegedly unable to complete the application process due to corruption and procedural inefficiencies. He advocated for these candidates to be permitted to fill out the examination form and partake in the re-examination.

“Allegations from students claiming that private coaching institutes predicted over 25 percent of the questions in the exam raise serious concerns about possible leaks. A thorough investigation is warranted. An independent and unbiased judicial inquiry is essential to delve into these widespread irregularities,” he expressed.

Tejashwi Yadav highlighted that thousands of candidates have been protesting under harsh weather conditions, voicing their dissatisfaction with the BPSC’s management of the situation.

He criticized the state government’s insensitivity towards the students protesting.

Tejashwi urged Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to annul the 70th Preliminary Examination to dispel doubts regarding fairness. He called for the Commission to announce a re-examination date with explicit guidelines to restore candidates' confidence.
