Hyderabad, Feb 6 (NationPress) The ruling Congress party in Telangana has issued a show-cause notice to its MLC Teenmaar Mallanna for burning the report of the caste census conducted recently in the state.

The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Disciplinary Action Committee (DAC) issued the show-cause notice following numerous complaints from the party cadre and OBC associations.

The Member of the Legislative Council has been instructed to provide his explanation within a week. DAC Chairman G. Chinna Reddy stated that if no explanation is received by February 12, stringent measures will be enforced in accordance with the Congress party constitution.

On February 4, the MLC publicly incinerated the caste survey report just hours after Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy presented it in the Assembly. Mallanna claimed that the caste survey report was a conspiracy aimed at harming the interests of backward classes.

The show-cause notice pointed out that Mallanna used offensive language against the caste census, which is a significant initiative led by party leader Rahul Gandhi.

He was informed that he was pursuing his personal agenda, neglecting the party’s interest.

“As a Member of the Telangana Legislative Council, you have openly violated the standards, guidelines, and procedures outlined in the Indian National Congress party’s constitution. You have conveniently forgotten that the party provided you with the ‘BB’ form and supported your election as MLC from the Graduate constituency of Warangal, Khammam, and Nalgonda,” reads the notice.

The notice also highlighted that Telangana was the first state to complete the caste census within 50 days, marking a historic achievement.

Teenmaar Mallanna stated on February 4 that he would never accept the report, labeling it a conspiracy to undermine the future of backward classes.

He contended that the figures presented in the report were fabricated and that backward castes would not tolerate such misrepresentation. The MLC claimed the survey failed to account for 40 lakh backward castes.

Mallanna accused the government of deceiving backward classes with inaccurate statistics. He asserted that Hindu backward classes represent 60 percent of the state’s population, while the government reported their population as merely 46 percent.

He stated that the population of Other Castes (OCs) was estimated at 15 percent, whereas the actual figure is only 8 percent.
