Agartala, Feb 6 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Saha, emphasized on Thursday that the primary aim of the state government is to develop diverse policies and programs to guarantee quality education across the state.
While inaugurating the state-level ‘Teaching Learning Material (TLM)’ competition-cum-exhibition at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan, the Chief Minister pointed out that educators must focus on fortifying the foundational knowledge of students from a young age.
Saha reiterated that the state government’s key focus is on crafting various initiatives to enhance educational institutions and that facilitating loans and scholarships for deserving students forms part of the education sector objectives.
“A building cannot reach its peak if its foundation is weak. Similarly, the educational foundation for children must be robust from early childhood,” Saha, who also oversees the Education portfolio, emphasized the need for affordable learning materials for all students, especially those from less privileged backgrounds.
He added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has established the National Education Policy to enhance the education system, which encompasses provisions for the availability of teaching-learning materials.
The Chief Minister mentioned that Modi has emphasized that the future of the country or the world will be in the hands of knowledgeable individuals.
“Knowledge is essential for progress. If the foundation is inadequate, advancement is impossible. The Education Department has initiated efforts to identify and rectify the gaps where opportunities or proper management were previously lacking,” he stated.
Saha announced a target to achieve basic literacy by 2026-27.
The Nipun Mission was launched nationwide on July 5, 2021, while Nipun Tripura was initiated in the state on November 18, 2022, and positive results are already being observed. The goal is for all schools to achieve commendable results, and the government is committed to this direction. In a small state like Tripura, approximately 150 lakh students fall within the Nipun Mission’s target age group, with around 12,000 teachers participating in its execution. These teachers are receiving appropriate training,” Saha mentioned.
He revealed that there are 4,227 government and government-aided schools involved in the Nipun Tripura Mission.
Over 10,180 teachers and nearly 90,000 students from pre-primary to second grade are being supported through the initiatives of Nipun Tripura, the Chief Minister stated.
He acknowledged that educators have played a vital role in the success of Nipun Tripura, serving as the primary driving force behind this mission. Schools from various districts showcased their efforts at this exhibition, striving for excellence.
Saha expressed that it is incredibly rewarding to see young children complete their tasks using worksheets, as it brings great satisfaction to their teachers.
