Pune, Feb 22 (NationPress) Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated on Saturday that by ensuring the availability of homes and toilets, Prime Minister Modi has preserved the dignity and self-respect of the impoverished.
He noted that under the "Housing for All" initiative, there is a goal of distributing five crore houses to women, backward classes, SC, ST, and other economically disadvantaged groups by 2029, with 3.80 crore families already receiving homes.
He mentioned that Maharashtra was initially allocated 13.50 lakh houses, which has now risen to 19.50 lakh houses, with arrangements made to guarantee timely delivery of all these homes.
During the event, he distributed sanction letters to 20 lakh beneficiaries and issued the first installment to 10 lakh beneficiaries from Maharashtra under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana 'Gramin' (Phase-2).
He highlighted that India is witnessing the unprecedented simultaneous allocation of 20 lakh homes to beneficiaries, and before this event concluded, Maharashtra also distributed their first installment to 10 lakh beneficiaries.
Amit Shah stressed that the collaborative efforts of the central and state governments are turning the dream of homeownership for 20 lakh individuals into a reality.
He indicated that PM Modi initiated Phase 2 of the PM Awas Yojana, under which Maharashtra received the most homes.
The Home Minister stated that in addition to homes, beneficiaries will also receive toilets, solar panels, and soon gas cylinders.
“The houses represent the fulfillment of developmental aspirations and serve as a fundamental step toward the progress of future generations,” Amit Shah remarked.
He emphasized that PM Modi has commenced numerous infrastructure projects for Maharashtra’s advancement, noting that the state government has effectively executed all welfare schemes throughout Maharashtra.
He mentioned that various irrigation initiatives have aided Maharashtra in addressing drought conditions, 11 Vande Bharat trains have been launched, and under the Amrit Bharat Scheme, 128 railway stations are undergoing redevelopment.
He added that Metro projects in Mumbai, Pune, and Nagpur are making significant progress, and new airports in Shirdi and Sindhudurg are under construction.
He pointed out that the Atal Setu Trans-Harbour Link is an engineering marvel and will serve as a global model.
Amit Shah disclosed that India’s largest and the world’s biggest container port is being developed in Maharashtra at an estimated cost of Rs 76,000 crore.
