New Delhi, Feb 22 (NationPress) In celebration of the arrival of spring, a magnificent five-day flower festival Palaash, organized by the Delhi Development Authority, commenced on Saturday at the DDA Green located in Sector 16-D Park, Golf Course Road, Dwarka.

Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena attended the festival and praised the ongoing efforts of the DDA to improve the visual appeal of the national capital by establishing new public green spaces for recreation throughout the city.

Every year since 2023, the DDA has been hosting flower festivals across its green areas. This year, however, the public can enjoy the splendor of the event for an extended five-day period across two weekends, taking place in Dwarka and Mayur Vihar.

The first part of the Palaash festival is being held in Dwarka on February 22 and 23, while the second part is scheduled for February 28, March 1, and 2 at Smriti Van, Mayur Vihar Phase III.

Earlier in the day, LG Saxena mentioned that the government would adopt a mission-oriented approach to elevate the aesthetic quality of the national capital.

He also noted that in addition to the development of recreational public greens such as Baansera, Asita, and Yamuna Vatika, extensive plantings of tulips throughout the city have greatly enhanced its beauty and garnered widespread acclaim.

The theme for Palaash 2025 is ‘Pollution Free, Healthy Living’. Named after the Butea monosperma flower that blooms in the capital during this season, the festival aims to transform Delhi into a ‘City of Flowers’, promoting a greener, more sustainable urban environment.

The festival unites horticulture enthusiasts, environmental advocates, artists, and the public in a grand celebration of nature and creativity.

Attendees can enjoy breathtaking floral displays, exhibits of exotic flowers, seasonal blossoms, and theme-based garden installations featuring stunning floral designs. They can also participate in various competitions, workshops, nature walks, and discussions throughout the five-day event.

Among the activities are a fancy dress competition, cultural performances, engaging and creative activities, a floral rangoli-making contest, a drawing and painting competition, and an origami workshop, all designed to inspire visitors with floral themes.

Palaash 2025 invites the public to engage in a variety of fun competitions, including flowering pot plants, foliage pot plants, vegetable pot plants, container gardens, and floral arrangements for home decor, providing a platform for gardening fans to demonstrate their creativity and horticultural expertise. On-the-spot registration will be available for public events at the registration desk. Throughout the day, visitors can also enjoy food stalls, pottery, swings, and rides.
