Chennai, Feb 22 (NationPress) MDMK MP Durai Vaiko expressed on Saturday that his party does not oppose Hindi or any language but strongly contests its enforced imposition.
While addressing the media about the three-language policy, the Lok Sabha MP highlighted that Tamil Nadu has advanced considerably compared to northern states due to its commitment to the two-language policy.
“The success of our youth in English stems from this two-language approach. Students in Tamil Nadu have demonstrated their capabilities across various sectors. We have no issues with Hindi or any language; our concern is with its mandatory enforcement,” stated Durai Vaiko.
The youthful leader, son of MDMK founder and MP Vaiko, questioned why the BJP insists on promoting an Indian language as the third option rather than providing foreign languages like German, French, or Mandarin.
“Prime Minister Modi aims to position India as a global economic powerhouse, and the public supports this vision. Yet, why are we not preparing our youth with foreign language skills that would greatly benefit them? Previously, most schools in Tamil Nadu offered a foreign language, but recent policy shifts have led to its elimination,” he remarked.
Durai Vaiko also noted that all political entities in Tamil Nadu, including the leading Opposition party AIADMK, reject the imposition of Hindi in educational settings.
He criticized the BJP as the sole party opposed to the two-language policy, claiming it does not reflect the interests of the people in Tamil Nadu.
He reiterated MDMK’s partnership with the DMK over the last seven years, calling it a strong political force in Tamil Nadu.
Moreover, he conveyed the party’s resolve to stop the BJP from establishing a presence in the state, labeling it a “fascist” party.
It is noteworthy that Durai Vaiko is a Lok Sabha MP from the Tiruchirapalli constituency, having won against AIADMK candidate P. Karupiah by a margin of 313,094 votes in his first electoral battle.
