Mumbai, April 28 (NationPress) - The Congress party has called for an investigation into the reported mistakes in the Maharashtra-level Common Entrance Test (MHT-CET) paper.

The state party leader, Harshwardhan Sapkal, stated that the MHT-CET was conducted by the State Common Entrance Test Cell on April 27.

Concerns have arisen due to the errors found in the exam paper, affecting both students and their families.

Students have reported that in the exam center located in Ahilyanagar district, approximately 20 to 25 questions in the 50-mark mathematics paper contained incorrect answer options.

He emphasized that this situation is a serious issue and insisted that students should receive marks for these faulty questions.

In a correspondence addressed to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Sapkal elaborated that within the mathematics paper, 20 to 25 questions had misleading answer choices.

In certain instances, all four provided options were incorrect, and students were forced to select wrong answers since they had to attempt every question.

When grievances were voiced at the exam center, they were reportedly dismissed, according to him.

Similar issues have surfaced from various examination centers throughout the state. Some centers encountered server outages, yet adequate responses were not offered by the examination authorities.

“This examination is vital for securing admissions in engineering programs. If 20 to 25 questions had incorrect options, it could severely impact students' futures. Who bears responsibility for this? Why should students be penalized due to the oversight of the institutions or companies tasked with preparing the papers and administering the exam? This is not just about a few questions; it pertains to the futures of thousands of students. The state government must address this matter earnestly and take stringent action against those accountable,” declared Sapkal.

“Institutions that fail to properly prepare examination papers or manage the examination process should never be allowed to handle such responsibilities again and must be blacklisted. The state government is entirely accountable for ensuring that students are not harmed in any way,” he concluded.

He urged the government to clarify its position on this issue and implement measures to protect students from negative consequences.
