Patna, Feb 22 (NationPress) A woman was discovered murdered within the premises of the Pirbahore police station in Patna on Saturday morning.
The victim has been recognized as Deepika Bharti, spouse of Dhananjay Kumar, a police constable stationed at the Patna Police Lines.
In the wake of the event, DSP (Town) Diksha, alongside other senior officials and the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team, examined the crime scene and gathered vital evidence from the residence.
"We are exploring the situation from all potential perspectives. The motives behind the murder remain unclear. The victim exhibited signs of strangulation on her neck," stated DSP Diksha.
Initial reports suggest that Dhananjay Kumar might be implicated in Deepika Bharti's murder due to frequent disputes between the couple.
The victim had been living with her husband on the second floor of a police residential unit located within the Pirbahore police station grounds.
The couple had recently returned from the Kumbh Mela, and the incident is believed to have occurred on Friday night.
Deepika and Dhananjay, married in 2016, have a five-year-old daughter who was left with her grandmother before their trip to Kumbh.
Deepika's family suspects foul play and has accused Dhananjay Kumar of being responsible for her death.
"The victim’s relatives have made accusations against Dhananjay. We are investigating the matter comprehensively," DSP Diksha added.
“We have retrieved the body and dispatched it to Patna Medical College and Hospital for autopsy. It will be conducted by a panel of three expert doctors, and videography will be carried out during the post-mortem,” Diksha mentioned.
“An FIR has been lodged under applicable murder statutes at Pirbahore police station,” Diksha confirmed.
Dhananjay Kumar is currently the primary suspect in this case. He has been summoned for questioning. Dhananjay, a constable from the 2010 batch, was reportedly on duty at the time of the incident.
The police are actively investigating all aspects, including the potential for domestic violence or other disputes.
