New Delhi, Feb 22 (NationPress) RailTel Corporation of India Limited (RailTel), a public sector enterprise under the Railway Ministry, has been awarded a contract worth Rs 288 crore to implement the Kavach anti-collision system at 71 stations.
This initiative will span 502 route kilometers (RKM) of railway tracks in the Danapur and Sonpur divisions of the East Central Railway, as stated in a RailTel report to the exchanges.
Kavach is a sophisticated automatic train protection system aimed at averting train collisions. It automatically engages the brakes if a train passes a signal indicating danger or if a collision risk is detected.
