During his address, the Union Minister underscored the importance of preserving and promoting the illustrious history and cultural legacy of the Tai-Ahom community, reflecting the unity and strength of Assam.
In his speech, Sarbananda Sonowal remarked: "The Tai community possesses a robust socio-cultural history that continues to inspire the younger generation. This festival is not merely a celebration of Tai-Ahom heritage; it serves as a vision to empower the Assamese community. I applaud the organizers for their efforts in hosting such a meaningful event. By remaining united and fortifying our foundation, we can preserve our identity and secure a progressive future."
He also highlighted the contributions of Swargadeo Chaolung Sukapha, the founder of the Ahom dynasty, whose inclusive humanistic values unified Assam in the 13th century.
"Motivated by these principles, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is guiding the nation with the philosophy of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas,’ ensuring inclusive growth for everyone," Sonowal added.
The Union Minister also emphasized the values of Mahavir Lachit Borphukan, the legendary Ahom general, whose leadership was pivotal in uniting Assamese forces against the Mughal invaders.
