Bhopal, Feb 22 (NationPress) In a heartbreaking road accident in Maihar, Madhya Pradesh, an eleven-year-old boy lost his life and two women sustained serious injuries, officials reported.

The accident took place near the Kherwasani toll plaza on Saturday morning.

The victims were traveling in a car, heading to take a holy dip in the Ganges during the ongoing Kumbh Mela. This marks the third road mishap involving Kumbh pilgrims in Maihar within the past week.

As per police reports, five individuals were in the car, all from Hyderabad. The injured women have been named as Renuka Rani and Anjali, both suffering serious injuries to their upper and lower limbs as well as their waists.

Sadly, the child was declared dead upon reaching Maihar Civil Hospital. The car, which was reportedly speeding, lost control and flipped after hitting a shallow pit beside the road.

The police have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Authorities noted that the sudden surge of Kumbh pilgrims has caused traffic congestion at the Khesarwani toll plaza, complicating police management efforts.

Besides this incident, two other unfortunate events occurred recently in Maihar and Katni. A sports utility vehicle collided with a bus around 3 a.m. on Thursday, leading to the deaths of three passengers and severe injuries to two others.

The day prior, multiple road accidents on National Highway No 30 resulted in several Kumbh pilgrims losing their lives. In light of these incidents, state police have rerouted heavy traffic, including trucks and buses, to alternative paths to mitigate further accidents.

Despite these interventions, incidents continue to happen.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has urged Kumbh pilgrims and drivers to stay alert and avoid panic, hoping to avert additional tragedies on the roads.
