Ambala, March 14 (NationPress) - Haryana Transport Minister Anil Vij on Friday advocated for a metro train service connecting Ambala and Chandigarh, citing severe traffic congestion on the roads leading to the state capital, which hampers commuter movement.

He mentioned that as the Chief Minister of Haryana, Union Minister for Urban Development Manohar Lal Khattar has played a pivotal role in the progress of Ambala Cantonment.

"We are appealing to the Union Minister for a metro train from Ambala to Chandigarh because reaching the capital of Haryana is extremely challenging. The routes to Chandigarh are heavily congested, causing people to spend hours traveling both ways," said Anil Vij.

Anil Vij stressed that "introducing a metro train would save time and greatly benefit millions of commuters."

This request was made while he spoke to BJP leaders in Ambala Cantonment during the Holi celebrations, where Union Minister Khattar received a warm welcome upon his arrival.

Reflecting on their shared experiences, Anil Vij noted that he and Manohar Lal Khattar possess similar visions, having both been trained in the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). "Their ideology guides them to serve the people and advance the nation and state," he remarked.

Vij acknowledged that although there might be occasional disagreements, they pertain to issues rather than personal conflicts. "In the end, Manohar Lal Khattar either embraced my suggestions or I accepted his views, fostering ongoing progress and development," he highlighted.

Vij expressed his happiness that the residents of Ambala Cantonment, his Assembly constituency, have shown unwavering support for the BJP. The party secured victories in 25 out of 32 councilor seats, with the BJP Chairperson winning by a margin of 28,000 votes, showcasing their strong backing.

Union Minister Khattar, for his part, emphasized the need for BJP workers to remain election-ready. He commended Ambala Cantonment as a BJP stronghold, where the party has consistently emerged victorious in elections.

He urged the newly-elected representatives to prioritize public welfare and meet the expectations of the citizens.

Khattar highlighted the BJP's significant triumph in local body elections across Ambala Cantonment, Ambala City, and throughout Haryana. "The party enjoys considerable support, while opposition parties like the Congress have become insignificant due to the BJP's commitment to public welfare. Since 2014, the BJP has won three Lok Sabha elections, three Assembly elections, and numerous local and rural body elections, reflecting strong public confidence in the party," Khattar concluded.
