Bengaluru, Feb 22 (NationPress) Delhi Capitals won the toss and chose to bowl first against the UP Warriorz in the eighth match of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 held at the Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday.
This toss was crucial for the Capitals, as the team that has won the toss here has opted to bowl first and emerged victorious in each of the previous seven matches.
Saturday's match marks the second encounter between these teams in the 2025 season, following DC's impressive seven-wicket win over the Warriorz in Vadodara on Wednesday.
In that match, Delhi captain Meg Lanning was the standout performer, scoring 61 runs which led her team to chase down 167. Annabel Sutherland earned the Player of the Match title for her unbeaten 41 runs and exceptional bowling figures of 2-24.
The Capitals are unchanged from their previous victory against the Warriorz, while the UP-based team has made one alteration, bringing in Saima Takor in place of Rajeshwari Gayakwad to improve their fortunes.
“We are going to bowl. Same team. We felt improvements in the last game and aim to replicate that tonight. The pitch should suit our style. It’s great to be back in the winning spirit. We must perform well again tonight,” said Meg at the toss.
The UP Warriorz are determined to secure their first win of the season after losses to DC and the Gujarat Giants in their initial matches, placing them at the bottom of the WPL standings.
In contrast, DC has only suffered one defeat in their three matches, with an eight-wicket loss against RCB being their sole setback this season.
