Liverpool, Feb 22 (NationPress) Ahead of the upcoming match against Manchester United at Goodison Park this Saturday, Everton head coach David Moyes expressed that his squad is gaining confidence, which has contributed to their ascent in the Premier League standings.
Moyes returned to lead Everton following the dismissal of Sean Dyche during a critical time in the relegation struggle. Under the guidance of the former Manchester United manager, Everton has improved its position to 14th in the league, now sitting 13 points clear of the relegation zone.
“There’s no great mystery to it. The players are just playing with more confidence. A few victories have instilled that great feeling. We are starting to create more opportunities. I did not want to be the manager who relegated Everton, and that’s the burden of being a manager. We are not yet safe. However, the recent results have been encouraging,” Moyes told TNT Sports prior to the match.
On the other side, Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has made a single alteration to his lineup from their previous game. After missing last week’s close loss against Tottenham Hotspur, midfielder Manuel Ugarte returns to the starting XI, replacing Alejandro Garnacho, who will now start on the bench.
Amorim had previously faced Everton in only his second match as manager of the Red Devils, a game they won decisively 4-0. However, he firmly believes that Saturday’s encounter will be a ‘completely different’ situation.
“This is entirely distinct. I recall the previous match; it was my second in charge in the Premier League. We had some fortune during that game. We need to improve; our team is different now. We aim to win and to perform well,” Amorim stated.
