Lucknow, Dec 22 (NationPress) The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPCS) Preliminary Examination 2024 is currently being conducted across all 75 districts of the state.
More than 560,000 candidates have registered for the examination, competing for 220 positions within the state’s civil services.
Given the extensive nature of this examination, rigorous security measures have been implemented. Cities such as Ayodhya, Sambhal, Jaunpur, Kanpur, Moradabad, Unnao, Amethi, Kushinagar, Chandauli, and Mau have seen significant police presence at examination centers.
Law enforcement personnel are on high alert to guarantee the smooth execution of the event and to avert any possible incidents.
Initially, the UPPSC had planned to hold the PCS preliminary exams on December 7 and 8 in two shifts, with the Review Officer/Assistant Review Officer (RO/ARO) preliminary exams set for December 22 and 23 in three shifts.
However, the exam schedule was modified following protests from job seekers in Prayagraj last month. The demonstrators insisted that the examinations be conducted in a single shift to enhance fairness and feasibility.
The protests outside the UPPSC office in Prayagraj escalated, with students breaking through barricades and marching towards the Commission’s headquarters.
The protesters contended that staggered examinations were cumbersome and led to inconsistencies in the evaluation process.
In response to these concerns, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath intervened, instructing the UPPSC to administer the preliminary exams on a single day. This decision was announced on the third day of the protests, effectively resolving the situation.
Following the Chief Minister’s order, the UPPSC revised its schedule to conduct the exams in a single day. This change was warmly received by candidates, who believed it created a level playing field and promoted a more transparent selection process.
The successful organization of the examination statewide illustrates the collaborative efforts of the UPPSC and the state administration. Candidates are eagerly awaiting the results as they aspire to secure prestigious positions in Uttar Pradesh’s civil services.
