Mumbai, Jan 24 (NationPress) The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has imposed a two-year ban on Indonesian shooting Para athlete Hanik Puji Hastuti for violating anti-doping regulations, breaching the IPC Anti-Doping Code.
Hastuti tested positive for a prohibited substance in a urine sample collected during the women’s 10m air rifle standing SH1 event on December 4, 2023, at the 2023 World Abilitysport Games in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand.
The substance identified was Propranolol along with its metabolite 4-hydroxy-propranolol, both classified under the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) 2023 Prohibited List as P1 (Beta-blockers). This substance is prohibited at all times in shooting Para sport, as confirmed by the IPC in a recent statement.
According to the release, World Abilitysport (WAS) is responsible for managing the anti-doping program, including results management for the 2023 World Abilitysport Games. WAS determined if the athlete committed an ADRV and whether her results should be disqualified under their Anti-Doping Rules.
On April 14, 2024, Hastuti accepted a voluntary provisional suspension while awaiting the resolution of her case. She later acknowledged the ADRV and the consequences laid out by WAS.
On April 30, 2024, WAS declared that Hastuti had committed an ADRV, disqualifying all her results from the 2023 World Abilitysport Games and forfeiting all associated medals, points, and prizes.
The case was then referred to the IPC, the governing body for shooting Para sport, to determine any additional sanctions, including any period of ineligibility as defined by the Code.
Hastuti accepted the IPC's proposed sanctions. Consequently, she will be barred from competing or participating in any sporting activities (except for authorized anti-doping education or rehabilitation) for a two-year term from April 14, 2024, to April 13, 2026.
All results achieved by Hastuti from the date of the sample collection (December 4, 2023) until the start of her provisional suspension (April 14, 2024) are also disqualified, leading to forfeiture of medals, points, and prizes.
