Chennai, Feb 3 (NationPress) Producer Allu Aravind has revealed that director Chandoo Mondeti’s highly anticipated film Thandel, starring Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi in lead roles, is inspired by a real-life incident involving Indian fishermen from Andhra Pradesh who were captured by authorities in Pakistan and imprisoned for 22 years.
During an event organized by the film team, Allu Aravind shared this significant detail.
He elaborated, “This true story occurred near Vizag, in a small village. Fishermen had traveled to Gujarat for a 30-day fishing trip. Unfortunately, due to inclement weather, they inadvertently crossed international boundaries and were captured by the authorities in Pakistan. They spent 22 years in prison. The hardships endured by their families in the village, their struggles, and efforts to bring them back form the crux of this film’s narrative.”
He continued, “I was moved by just 10 lines of this story. We reached out to the 20 individuals who were imprisoned in Pakistan and secured their rights. Although someone had initially penned it down, it took nine months to develop the storyline properly. When I was finally presented with the narration, it left me utterly amazed.”
Thandel is among the most anticipated films of the year. Featuring Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi as the leads, the film also includes Sundip R Ved as the antagonist. Following the release of the trailer, fans have been buzzing with excitement about this love-action-drama.
Given the enthusiastic response to the trailer, anticipation among viewers is peaking as they look forward to experiencing this cinematic spectacle in theaters.
Alongside a stellar cast, Thandel boasts an exceptional team. National Award-winning composer Devi Sri Prasad has crafted the film's soundtrack, with cinematography by Shamdat.
Additionally, Naveen Nooli, a National Award winner, serves as the editor, and Srinagendra Tangala heads the art department. Directed by Chandoo Mondeti, Thandel is produced by Bunny Vasu under the Geetha Arts banner, with Allu Aravind presenting it. The film is scheduled for release on February 7.
