Los Angeles, March 14 (NationPress) Hollywood star Cate Blanchett may not possess an abundance of photos from her wedding to Andrew Upton, yet she insists that her memories are cherished.
During her appearance on ‘The Drew Barrymore Show’ to promote her new thriller ‘Black Bag’, the 55-year-old actress explained the reason behind the scarcity of wedding photos from their 1997 nuptials, as reported by ‘People’ magazine.
“When I got married, which was a long time ago, 27 years ago,” Blanchett started, before being momentarily sidetracked by a recent image of herself and Upton, 59, displayed on the studio screen.
“Why am I doing it that way?” she humorously asked, gazing at the image of herself laughing alongside her husband.
According to ‘People’, the snapshot taken in March 2024 shows Blanchett seated and leaning into Upton with a smile. Refocusing, the Borderlands actress referred to it as “a miracle” to be wed “to the same person” for such a long duration.
Blanchett continued, “I’m still married after 27 years. When we tied the knot, we had absolutely no money. We couldn’t afford a photographer, and we had two friends who were photographers.”
“One guy got so intoxicated that he forgot to load the film in the camera, and the other had such a good time that he didn’t take any pictures. Consequently, we only have one picture from our wedding,” the actress recounted to Barrymore, 50. She then described their sole wedding photo as “a blurry image of the two of us getting into the car, but I distinctly remember the evening because of it.”
The Disclaimer actress admitted that she wasn’t always as content discussing this moment as she is today. “I was very sad and upset, and I cried at the time for not having any pictures. However, I’ve come to appreciate not having them because I then try to recall the evening constantly,” she added.
