Mumbai, Jan 22 (NationPress) Actress Sagarika Ghatge is making her return to the film industry after an eight-year hiatus with the movie “Lalat”. She emphasizes that it has not been straightforward to step back in and secure a film.
When asked about her decision to return amid discussions about starting a family, Sagarika shared with IANS, “There’s no easy answer to this. Certainly, there are numerous opportunities arising with the diverse films and series being produced today, which is thrilling as it broadens horizons—not just for actors but also for viewers.”
“Nevertheless, it hasn’t been simple to just walk in and land a role.”
“For someone like me, who took a break, returning to work has been quite the challenge. However, I am thankful to have a film that will highlight my skills, and I hope it inspires those who thought I was uninterested in working to reach out in the future,” said the actress, who debuted in Bollywood in 2007 with “Chak De! India”, featuring Shah Rukh Khan.
She noted that the script was a significant factor in her decision to take on this film, coupled with the chance to portray a character who embodies both “naivety and remarkable strength, filled with courage and depth.”
“It was an incredibly rewarding experience to bring such a layered character to life. The physical transformation was both thrilling and daunting, but it provided me with a deep sense of accomplishment after each day on set,” expressed Sagarika, who is married to former cricketer Zaheer Khan.
She revealed that “Lalat” was filmed entirely in Rajasthan, in a quaint village that added authenticity to the narrative.
“Each day, we drove at least two hours from the nearest town to our shooting location, which enriched the overall experience. I had the honor of collaborating with some exceptional actors who were all fantastic,” she mentioned.
Discussing her co-star, she remarked: “Satish Ray, in particular, has brought to life a character that will resonate with audiences once they view the film. Each cast member contributed something special to their roles, enhancing the beauty of the story. It was a delight to work with this talented team, and we all enjoyed our time together on set.”
What did Zaheer think when she informed him about her role?
“He was extremely thrilled and enthusiastic about me returning to what I love. More than anything, he has always motivated me to push my limits, so this journey was no different.”
She added: “Indeed, when I felt anxious or doubted myself, it was him who ensured I concentrated on what I needed to do - which was to prepare.”
