Bengaluru, Jan 21 (NationPress) After a series of disappointing results against the league's bottom two teams, Mohammedan Sporting and Hyderabad FC, Bengaluru FC is eager to restore their winning momentum against an Odisha FC team that is also grappling with inconsistency in their Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 match at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium this Wednesday.

The Blues currently hold the third position, trailing FC Goa by two points, while Odisha has dropped to seventh and out of playoff contention.

“The Kanteerava is a challenging venue for visiting teams because of the atmosphere the fans create, which motivates us to secure victories. I encourage the fans to support us. From the 75th minute onwards during home matches, I consistently urge my players to give their utmost. Everyone must push their limits, as those moments are crucial for us to gather many points at home,” stated BFC Head Coach Gerard Zaragoza on the eve of the match.

Team captain Sunil Chhetri has scored ten goals this season, while Ryan Williams has contributed to nine goals since his return from injury. As they aim to build on their potent partnership, the Blues are facing defensive challenges, having not kept a clean sheet since October.

Bengaluru FC will miss Rahul Bheke due to suspension and forward Jorge Pereyra Diaz. Zaragoza acknowledged the difficulties presented by Odisha, whose coach and several players possess substantial Indian Super League experience.

“Odisha presents a formidable challenge. Competing against a Sergio Lobera team is always tough. Their attacking strategies are impressive, and teams with seasoned players can capitalize on gaps. In our previous encounter, they caught us off guard in the first half. However, we aim to demonstrate our capabilities at home,” Zaragoza emphasized.

Odisha is also on a winless streak, having not secured a victory in their last four matches, resulting in just two points. Centre-back Carlos Delgado is suspended for the match, and the Juggernauts are eager to keep pace with teams ahead of them to mount a late playoff challenge. New recruit Dorielton has made a strong impact for Odisha, scoring two goals and providing one assist in three matches.
