New Delhi, Feb 5 (NationPress) Following a 4-1 T20I series victory against England, left-handed opening all-rounder Abhishek Sharma and wrist-spinner Varun Chakaravarthy have made significant progress in the latest ICC Men’s T20I rankings updated on Wednesday.
Abhishek recently delivered the best innings of his emerging international career by scoring an impressive 135 in the fifth and final match of the series held at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. He has surged a remarkable 38 places to now sit second in the T20I rankings for batters.
With this performance, Abhishek now holds the record for the highest individual score by an Indian men's player in the T20 format, trailing only 26 rating points behind the top-ranked Australian left-handed opener Travis Head. In the batter rankings, Tilak Varma occupies third place, and skipper Suryakumar Yadav is fifth, ensuring strong Indian representation within the top five.
Meanwhile, Chakravarthy has ascended three places to equal second in the men’s bowlers rankings, thanks to his impressive performance of 14 wickets and being named Player of the Series against England.
