Mumbai, Jan 22 (NationPress) Actress Sagarika Z Ghatge, making her return after eight years with the film “Lalaat”, expressed that it has been a challenging task to simply step back in and secure a film.
Reflecting on her decision to return amid discussions about starting a family, Sagarika shared with IANS: “There isn’t a simple explanation for this. Certainly, there are a multitude of opportunities with the diverse films and series being produced today, and it’s thrilling to witness the expanding horizons—not only for actors but for audiences as well.”
“Nonetheless, it hasn’t been easy to just walk in and land a film.”
“For someone like me, who has taken a break, returning to the industry wasn’t straightforward. However, I am thankful to have a film that will highlight my work, and I hope it inspires people, especially those who thought I had no desire to act anymore, to connect in the future,” said the actress, who made her Bollywood debut in 2007 with the Shah Rukh Khan blockbuster “Chak De! India.”
She noted that the script was the primary reason for selecting this film, along with the chance to embody a character that is both “naive and remarkably strong, showcasing immense bravery and depth.”
“It was a genuinely rewarding experience to bring to life a character with such intricate layers. The physical transformation was something I was both eager and apprehensive about, but it offered me immense satisfaction after each day on set,” remarked Sagarika, who is married to former cricketer Zaheer Khan.
She revealed that “Lalat” was filmed entirely in Rajasthan, in a quaint village that added a lot of authenticity to the narrative.
“Every day, we had to travel at least two hours from the nearest town to reach the filming location, which enriched the experience. I had the honor of collaborating with some fantastic actors who were all incredibly wonderful.”
When discussing her co-star, she mentioned: “Satish Ray, in particular, has brought to life a character that audiences will truly adore once they view the film. Each cast member contributed something distinctive to their roles, enhancing the beauty of the story. It was a delight to work with this remarkable team, and we all enjoyed our time on set.”
What was Zaheer’s response when she informed him about her role in the film?
“He was extremely thrilled and excited that I was returning to pursue my passion. More than anything, he has always been the one encouraging me to go that extra mile, so this journey was no exception.”
