However, it was Mukesh Kumar who secured four crucial wickets, establishing the groundwork for an eight-wicket triumph for the Delhi Capitals in Match 40 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 here on Tuesday.
Mukesh, awarded the Player of the Match (POTM) title for his impressive performance of 4-33, significantly altered the game's momentum in the 14th over by taking down Abdul Samad and Mitchell Marsh in rapid succession. He later dismissed Ayush Badoni and captain Rishabh Pant in the 20th over, limiting the opposition to 159/6 in their 20 overs.
"It's a great feeling. I truly enjoyed bowling on this pitch. Before my second over, I spoke with the other bowlers who mentioned that the ball was stopping a bit, so I aimed to vary my deliveries. I regularly discuss my plans with the skipper, whether I’m bowling slower deliveries or yorkers.

“Initially, we started bowling without taking wickets, but we maintained control over the match. Once we claimed two quick wickets, we gained momentum, and all bowlers performed well to keep them under 160. I have a slight injury, which is why I haven’t bowled much lately, but today I felt I was in good rhythm and bowled effectively up front,” stated Axar during the post-match presentation.
