Chairman of Shinsegae Engages in Brief Discussion with President-elect Trump
Chung Yong-jin, the chairman of South Korea's Shinsegae Group, mentioned having a short conversation with US President-elect Donald Trump during his visit to Trump's Florida resort, but he chose not to reveal further specifics.

Seoul, Dec 22 (NationPress) Chung Yong-jin, the chairman of the South Korean retail giant Shinsegae Group, revealed that he had a brief conversation with US President-elect Donald Trump during his trip to Trump's Florida resort but refrained from sharing additional information.

"I had a meal with President-elect Trump, and we separately engaged in a detailed discussion on various subjects," he stated to Yonhap News Agency while awaiting his return flight from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on Saturday (U.S. time).

Chung noted that his discussion with the incoming U.S. leader lasted approximately 10 to 15 minutes, according to Yonhap news agency. He is recognized as the first South Korean to have met Trump following his election triumph last month.

He had been staying at Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort since Monday, invited by Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of the president-elect, with whom Chung has already had three meetings this year.

Chung mentioned that he could not disclose the specifics of his conversation with the U.S. president-elect.

When asked if the president-elect made any remarks regarding South Korea, he stated that Trump did not provide any "special indication."

Instead, Trump Jr. introduced him to "many individuals," with whom he had business discussions, Chung elaborated.

The chairman of Shinsegae noted that Trump Jr. and others expressed interest in the circumstances in South Korea after President Yoon Suk Yeol's unsuccessful martial law announcement earlier this month.

Chung conveyed that he believes South Korea has the capacity to recover from the current political turmoil, asserting it won't be long before the nation returns to a stable condition, according to the report.
