Mumbai, Dec 22 (NationPress) A significant Mahila Shakti Shivir event took place in the Kandivali area of the city on Sunday, attracting a vast number of women.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal served as the Chief Guest for the occasion. He was joined by Bhagyashree Kapse, Deputy Commissioner of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation, and Bina Khan, Senior Divisional Manager of LIC, who also participated in the program.
During the event, the Union Minister expressed his thoughts on the importance of women's emancipation and empowerment, emphasizing that their participation in the mainstream is crucial for the nation's progress and development.
He reiterated the commitment of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government to empower the nation's sisters and daughters, aiming for their self-sufficiency and self-reliance.
Piyush Goyal praised the Bima Sakhi Yojana launched by the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), describing it as a transformative initiative that will not only provide economic security to women but also enable them to contribute to the country's economic growth.
He took to social media to share insights from his participation, stating, "Today, during the Nari Shaktikaran Camp program held in North Mumbai, I engaged with the sisters and distributed certificates related to skill development, while also observing the workshop."
He further added, "This initiative towards Women-Led Development under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi serves as an excellent platform for empowering women and fostering self-reliance."
Bhagyashree Kapse emphasized the significance of such programs for women empowerment.
She encouraged the women attendees to acknowledge their potential and actively participate in socio-economic development.
Bina Khan informed attendees about various LIC schemes that offer future security and self-sufficiency to women.
Notably, the Bima Sakhi Yojana was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approximately two weeks ago.
This scheme, initiated under LIC, is aimed at empowering women aged 18-70 years who have completed Class 10. Participants will receive specialized training along with a stipend for the first three years to enhance their financial literacy and insurance awareness.
Upon completion of their training, they can become LIC agents, and those who graduate as Bima Sakhis will have the chance to qualify for Development Officer positions within LIC.
