New Delhi, Dec 22 (NationPress) Over 71.81 crore Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) numbers have been generated (up to December 22) and 46.53 crore health records have been linked with ABHA, as per the government announcement on Sunday.
Moreover, more than 3.55 lakh health facilities have been registered in the Healthcare Professionals Registry (HFR), in addition to over 5.38 lakh healthcare professionals registered on the HPR.
Throughout the past decade, the nation has executed transformative policies and initiatives, demonstrating a strong commitment to achieving Universal Health Coverage.
A pivotal milestone in this journey was the introduction of the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY).
AB-PMJAY offers health coverage of Rs 5 lakh per eligible beneficiary family annually for secondary and tertiary care hospitalizations, encompassing 1,961 treatment procedures across 27 specialties.
As of December 17, AB PM-JAY has made substantial progress, with more than 36.28 crore Ayushman Cards issued, thus empowering millions with health protection.
An analysis of gender-wise utilization reveals that women represent 49 percent of the issued Ayushman cards and nearly 50 percent of total hospital admissions, reflecting the scheme's effectiveness in promoting gender equity in healthcare, according to the Health Ministry.
Additionally, AB PM-JAY has successfully empaneled 30,932 hospitals nationwide.
Another significant component of India's healthcare advancements is Mission Indradhanush, which has broadened immunization coverage under the Universal Immunisation Programme.
“Mission Indradhanush encompasses a provision of 11 types of vaccines to enhance protection against preventable diseases. A total of 5.46 crore children and 1.32 crore pregnant women have been vaccinated in all phases of Mission Indradhanush conducted thus far in the country,” the ministry informed.
These initiatives are highlighted by a remarkable enhancement in key health indicators, demonstrating the effectiveness of targeted healthcare strategies and interventions.
The Maternal Mortality Ratio has decreased from 103 per 100,000 live births in 2017-2019 to 97 per 100,000 live births in 2018-20. The Infant Mortality Rate fell from 32 per 1000 live births in 2018 to 28 per 1000 live births in 2020, while the Total Fertility Rate declined from 2.2 in 2015-16 to 2.0 in 2019-21.
“This progress stands as a testament to consumer-centric policies and initiatives, bolstered by consistent monitoring to ensure efficiency and impact,” the ministry stated.
